So I spent 9 days on the Big Island of Hawaii, getting married and drinking Mai Tais. My creativity has been sparked by the Great Mo'ai! Here's my latest cut--and I think I'm finally ready with this character, after like a decade of development...
So I've been posting black and white versions of a lot of my pieces on Instagram and Facebook--for folks to print out and color on their own. It's generated a bunch of interest--so I'm contemplating an adult coloring book project! What think you?
Just when you thought you'd never see a new Tikimonkeygirl drawing, here comes a surprise. This one started as a doodle in my trusty Moleskine sketchbook, then digitally colored/painted on iPad with Sketchbook Pro and Artrage, with some touch up in Photoforge.
No, I cannot stop redesigning characters. I'm kind of currently obsessed with 1960s/1970s design--clothing, architecture, furniture. Don't even get me started on the Polynesian influence that snuck into American pop culture in the 60s... I'm redesigning our heroine to dress a bit out of time--referencing old comics and magazines for fashion ideas. Hope you dig it!
